“Chilly” It was the beginning of June, the heat wave had been and gone and temperatures were back to normal. But the heating hadnt been on since we'd arrived ther and the only bedding was a thin quilt which didn't manage to keep me warm during the night. So, I was in bed wearing a shirt and wishing I had some long john with me. Not impressed. In the morning I asked for more bedding and the heating putting on. I did get a portable heater which did the job. I won't go there again.
Staff were very friendly I have worked customer service management myself and know the importance of providing a first class standard of service and one of the biggest ways of doing this is building rapport with customers and some of the staff at the hotel did that really well. The more experienced older woman at reception was very friendly and a staff member called David, we were particularly impressed by the standard of his customer service. Facilities in the room were superb ie hairdrier, trouser press etc for the cost of the room I thought the facilities were excellent in particular the free leisure passes and we thought the leisure facilities were extremely good and for that alone we would consider coming back to the hotel. Hotel had a good location, clean, spacious, had all amenities expected and very genuine friendly service from staff which goes a long way in my book as opposed to the false friendliness that is often a feature of many hotels.
Staff could have been a bit more efficient in certain areas ie,new staff member was on at reception and didn't know how to change from a double to a twin room which meant we had to wait for a long time before another staff member was able to assist her. She clearly lacked confidence although she was friendly I think she could benefit from being able to build rapport more effectively as she ignored us for a while whilst trying to work the pc clearly visibly stressed as if there was some major problem which we assumed was with our reservation. Eventually after rather a long time she explained that she was new and didnt know how to change from a double to a twin room. She made us feel quite worried initially about there being some problem with our booking as she didn't explain what the issue was so she certainly would need to communicate a bit more effectively with guests. The other staff member was on the telephone dealing with something else at the time but I think checking guests in expediently is a priority as its their first impression of the hotel. I'm sure she will be fine in time as she becomes more experienced and her confidence grows I just think the hotel should watch it doesn't impact negatively on customer service. It would also have been a good idea for us to be told that there was a scan card for entering the room as we thought that since there was a key on the door that we needed to use the key. So after taking a long time to check us in we went to our room and had to come back to reception as we couldnt get the key to work. It wasn't ideal having to go outside to get to our room and there was a snib on the downstairs door which some other residents were using so you couldnt get in if you nipped out without a key.
Superb for it's price! Nice B'fast and good service throughout!
Just out of reach for the city on foot!
It was easy to find, being on the Glasgow Road, and the special offer overnight price was excellent. As we only stayed one night, we can't comment on the main facilities.
We felt that a check in time of 4pm was rather late in the day.
Couldn't fault the Hotel or the staff. Great value for money. Will certainly recommend this to friends and will be back ourselves.
I thought the hotel was lovely from the outside, reception area and bar looked nice. Then I was hugely disappointed with the actual room! Thought I stepped. Ack in time to the 1980's!! The bed was not at all comfortable and the walls or floor, can't be sure which, seemed paper thin as we could here and feel the bouncing movement of people and it seemed trolleys going by, our room was 207. But the stay served its purpose and was very cheap for 2 people and breakfast, which was nice, apart from the feeling of being told off by the waitress, she told us to find a seat anywhere, so we sat at a table for 2 not realising it hadn't been set up, to which she seemingly half joked that we could have picked one that was set!!!
On both our visits to this hotel the staff were found to be excellent and the room comfortable. Both breakfasts were first class and we enjoyed our first evening meal thoroughly. Of all the staff one young man stood out. Les was very good, polite and efficient. A credit to himself and the hotel.
The second evening meal was more of a disaster. Although we appreciate we did not sit down until 2130 the vegetables had obviously been cooked a long time prior and my wife's Brie and Broccoli soggy and completely tasteless proving a complete disappointment.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Also the food was good, hot and well served, apart from my wife's curry on our second night.
The hotel is looking a little "tired" in places and needs some refurbishment.
It's location was ideal for our needs.Rooms were clean, food was very good, staff very helpful and pleasant.
Rooms need updating.
The staff are very nice and freindly make you so welcome on arrival. Love the breakfast and also rooms are very warm and comfortable and main thing which I love is they have a bath in the room, which a lot of hotels don't.
The best and only thing of any note was the great evening meal, breakfast was terrible, arrived to the table cold, and when i asked for it to be warmed, the exact same breakfast was re-served, eggs like concrete, beans had a crust on them, completely inedible. Would not visit again
Bedroom smelled of paint, overpowering, staff couldnt move me to another room as they were fully booked. Didn't offer anything as compensation, ie glass of wine with meal/ money off room rate. Staff not particularly bothered that i was uncomfortable in the room. Breakfast was dreadful, served cold, re-served dried out and inedible. overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, after a very disappointing stay.
The hotel was lovley. The staff were very friendly. Food was nice and the room was clean and comfortable. We only stopped for one night but would happily go back and spend longer.
There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
Breakfast was particularly good. Freshly cooked to order and with quality ingredients.
Wasn't given option to pay using other method than credit card used to secure the booking which meant that the credit card fee had already been taken when I arrived.
Only had an overnight stay but very relaxing and breakfast 'hit the spot'
The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly
The bed was terrible. I had a terrible night sleep and I woke in the morning with a very sore back. The hotel decor was very tired in parts and could be doing with a 'freshen up'
